Last week we had the big turnover.  The founding director and his wife are leaving, their mission ends next week.  Elder and Sister Decker.  He was instrumental in putting this ROC together and getting it all functional for all of the missionaries here.  Apparently, it was just a house before.  Now it is full of computers and workstations that are up and running with people behind the monitors looking for names to be extracted and sending the info in to different places and in different formats.  We do all kinds of stuff here and we haven't even been trained on all of it yet.  However, the turnover was part of the process of the "next step" and the McAra's took over starting last Wednesday.

Opening up the main devotional room, we all were greeted with the welcome sign.  Elder McAra is sitting front and center.

Not too many people wanted to miss the turnover.

The Karren's spoke for several minutes and are from Salt Lake.  They are the leads for all of the ROCs throughout the church.  They told us about how important the ROCs have become to the church and how they want to expand them with 10 more in the next year. And guess where one is slated for installation?  Yep, Sacramento!  They mentioned about 5 places in the US and other countries and Sacramento bubbled up right to the top.  I guess the Eastern Library is doing a pretty good job so I would imagine there will be some expansion down there.  But a ROC really needs a lot of computers and people to make it all work.  Look for that in the near future.

The Karren's gave the Decker's a beautiful plaque for the time spent here at the ROC and said a lot of nice things about their service.  It was pretty emotional for the Deckers.  Elder Decker suffers from some form of PTSD and for him to show any kind of emotion is extraordinarily difficult.  He was having trouble keeping from doing that during this meeting and the subsequent meetings we had later in the week. Of course, Sister decker was a mess but they have poured their hearts into this place and they deserve a rest from their labors.  They will be missed.

Quite a group of missionaries here.

Afterwards we all went out and had one of the missionaries take a drone shot of us.

Cute little thing will do picts and movies.

Elder Williams has a tablet attached to the controller and it works very nicely.  Unfortunately, a little while after this it went nuts and crashed but he was able to put it all back together again.

We all adjourned for cake and talk afterwards.  A nice ending.

This is a little more conventional picture taken by Sister Karren, sans the drone.  We had a few more people than normal but not too many more.  Most computers have bodies at them most of the time.  It is a busy place, to be sure.  And the plan is to make it much busier in the next few months.
