We have completed 3 weeks here at the ROC (Records Operation Center).  We are actually pretty surprised at how fast those weeks have gone by.  There is so much to do.  Not sure what it will be like in a year but we'll cross that bridge when the time comes.  Remember the bluff behind our apartment?

This is kind of a view from up by the old airport looking down onto St. George.  The wind was blowing about 40 miles an hour so my pants were whipping around like crazy but this view is spectacular.  It's only a mile or so from our apartment, which is just south of the temple there in the middle of this pict.  The big, white building.

A little less squished shot to the North.

...to the South.

...and we found a passable sushi place in St. George...shouldn't be too hard to find a descent Mexican place, I hope...
I've been asked to be the assistant to Elder McAra.  Not like he had a lot of choice as he needs to assistants and he has one other Elder to choose from so it left no one else.  But, that's OK, there's plenty enough for us to do.  He will be up in Salt Lake for the next couple of days for director training.  We then have a luncheon for the Decker's on Wednesday then they leave.  Lots of stuff happening here.   Somewhere along the line I am supposed to actually be doing some work.

Oh, I've been doing zoning where I look at old newspapers, block an article that has birth, marriage or death info in it and send it off to Salt Lake.  It's actually pretty fun and something to take your mind off of indexing and give you a break.  Some of the stuff we're zoning is pretty interesting. Old newspaper articles on things you would not think anyone would even remotely be interested in.  Like how dense tungsten is.  The price of a used Oldsmobile.  The French involvement in Viet Nam.  The price of a 4 pound brick of lard back in 1949...lots of good info.
