090616_Morley Farm

Our last stop for the day was the Morley Farm that straddled the Chillicothe Trail.  This trail was the main road of commerce through the area and the Morley's had enough presence of mind to buy property right on this trail.  Good business decision.  Only a very small section of the trail still exist today but it is enough to give you an idea of what it once was like.

The description of the farm.
What the trail looks like today.  The guide told us it's narrower than when it was in use but in the same spot.  A busy major road is a few hundred yards away.
At the end of the trail section is where the Log schoolhouse once stood where the Prophet Joseph tutored the Elders of the church when he lived in the area.  Because it was wood, there is no evidence of it anymore but historical records note it's existence.
Our guide telling us about what transpired in the area.
This is an artist rendition of what the log schoolhouse looked like when Joseph was teaching there.
We retired to our hotel that night in anticipation of hitting the road for Niagara Falls and Palmyra the next day.  Still more to come...
